OSU Picked 14th in Big 12 Men's Basketball Preseason Poll

Kansas has been named the favorite in the Big 12 men's basketball preseason poll for the 20th time in 28 years. Hunter Dickinson was awarded Preseason Player of the Year for the second straight year.

Jeremy Roach (Baylor) and Coleman Hawkins (K-State) were named Preseason Co-Newcomers of the Year, while VJ Edgecombe (Baylor) took home Preseason Freshman of the Year.

Following Kansas, Houston ranked second, with Iowa State, Baylor, and Arizona completing the top five. Dickinson, a consensus All-American in 2023-24, led the Big 12 with 10.8 rebounds and averaged 17.9 points per game.

Roach, who joined Baylor after an impressive stint at Duke, averaged 14.0 points and 3.3 assists last season. Hawkins, a transfer from Illinois, starts his K-State career just 21 points shy of 1,000.

Edgecombe's recognition continues Baylor's streak of four consecutive Preseason Freshman of the Year awards. Dickinson was the only unanimous selection for the Preseason All-Big 12 First Team, joined by Caleb Love (Arizona), LJ Cryer and J'Wan Roberts (Houston), and Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State). The Second Team includes Roach, Norchad Omier (Baylor), Keshon Gilbert (Iowa State), Dajuan Harris Jr. (Kansas), and Hawkins.

The awards were voted on by the league's 16 head coaches, who could not vote for their own team or players.
