Tulsa Police say a 9-year-old and 12-year-old boy were shot Tuesday morning in what appears to be an accidental shooting.

A 15-year-old boy was also taken into custody in connection with the shooting, but police haven’t said why.

Police say they were first told it was a drive-by shooting where someone fired shots into the house and hit the two boys. But they say surveillance video shows that's not what happened.

Police say someone called 911 Tuesday morning, saying two kids had been shot at a home near 27th and Garnett.

Officers say the 9-year-old boy had been grazed by a bullet and the 12-year-old was shot in the leg.

"They quickly kind of found out it wasn't what originally the call got put out to be,” said Officer Danny Bean with Tulsa Police.

Investigators quickly determined it wasn’t a drive-by shooting, but they believe the boys were playing with the gun and it went off. A 15-year-old boy in the house was taken into custody in connection to the shooting.

"There was at least one adult. There was one older adult that was inside the house. Again, they are being very cooperative, to kind of figure out how this happened,” said Bean.

This shooting comes just two weeks after a child was killed in Sand Springs in an accidental shooting. Sand Springs Police say in that case, a child shot another child after getting the gun from what the adults called a "safe place."

"That's always the scary part with any kind of firearm and gun safety, keeping them locked up or keeping them hidden and not being able to get, for a child to get. That's always a concern I think for every responsible gun owner, the fear of a child getting ahold of a firearm,” said Bean.

Tulsa Police say both boys are expected to be okay.
