Oklahoma's first officially sanctioned Special Olympics bowling league started in Sapulpa Tuesday night.
Sahoma Lanes is hosting the league.
Bowlers play for twelve weeks and submit their scores to Special Olympics, which will then count them toward competitions and awards.
Organizers say they're proud to offer the league because it shows how inclusive the sport can be.
"Anyone can bowl," said Jessica Pilgrim, the director of the league. “Bowling can be modified to fit anyone's need, no matter what that may be. And so that's amazing because I love the element of inclusion that bowling offers."
12 bowlers are participating in the league right now, and organizers hope that it will grow in the weeks to come.
The league runs through the end of the year.
