Tulsa Judge Orders Trial For Woman Accused In Crash That Killed 4 And Unborn Baby

A Tulsa judge rules there’s enough evidence to move toward a trial for a woman charged with causing a crash that killed a woman, three kids and an unborn baby who were passengers in her car. 

Prosecutors say Keiosha Rucker had marijuana and cocaine in her system when she turned in front of a Tulsa fire truck that had its lights and sirens on

The only surviving passenger in Rucker’s car testified. She was five months pregnant and lost her unborn baby in the crash.

She says she didn’t hear the sirens and only saw the truck moments before the crash. Prosecutors showed two surveillance videos of the crash with the sound of the fire truck's sirens and air horn in both clips.

A Tulsa fire captain who was in the truck testified they were heading to a fire and were running lights and sirens near 41st and Harvard. 

The firefighter says several drivers in front of them were pulling to the right side of the road to get out of the way, but he says Keiosha Rucker didn’t yield and stayed in the left lane. He says they decided to go into the oncoming lanes to pass Rucker because it was clear, but she turned in front of the fire truck. 

The firefighter says they turned around and tried to help the victims after the crash.

A Tulsa Police traffic investigator testified he interviewed Rucker in the hospital and she said she saw the fire truck and lights in her mirrors before the crash.

He also says her blood test results showed she had marijuana and cocaine in her system and says officers found drugs in her car. 

Rucker had been in the hospital for several months after the crash and was recently booked into the Tulsa County jail for five counts of manslaughter and other charges.

Rucker’s attorney says Rucker and the passengers in the car didn’t hear the sirens or see the fire truck till it hit the car.  

He asked the firefighter questions during testimony about why the driver of the fire truck didn’t drive around Rucker on the other side because that lane was also clear. 

Rucker is due back in court on Nov. 4th.
