Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa went under a lockdown Friday morning, according to officials at the healthcare complex.
Ascension St. John released the following statement, saying "a potential security concern involving a personal matter with one of our patients" initiated the lockdown decision. Officials said that they have downgraded the situation to a "security event" as of 11:15 a.m.
Emergency services are still available but some areas of the hospital may still be closed to the public.
"The safety of our patients, visitors and associates is always our highest priority. Out of an abundance of caution due to a potential security concern involving a personal matter with one of our patients, some areas of the hospital are currently closed to the public. While the hospital is temporarily restricting entry and exit, emergency services and patient care continue without interruption.
All patients, visitors and staff are safe, and our team is working closely with local law enforcement and security personnel to thoroughly assess the situation. The restricted entry is a standard precautionary measure, and we kindly ask for the community’s patience as we address the matter."
