Roughly 3,000 customers in the Jenks area including Jenks High School were without power on Wednesday until crews were able to resolve the issue.

A spokesperson for PSO said that a squirrel got into some equipment outside the substation in Jenks that shares common lines with a transformer. The system picked up on that and de-energized the lines to prevent further damage.

"We quickly identified the problem and are working to get customers back on," said Matt Rahn with PSO.

Jenks School leaders said that the power outage impacted Jenks High School, the Freshman Academy, and most buildings at West Elementary. Leaders decided to continue school as normal, and made arrangement for pizza to be delivered at lunch.
