Kevin Wilson Gives Update On Tulsa Football Moving Forward, Previews USF

Kevin Wilson on last Thursday night loss to ECU

"We had way too many mistakes, still could be a lot better. Played better on defense, turnovers, defensive score. Still gave up too many big plays, had a chance to get some stops at the end of the first half and end of the game when they popped a run on us. I didn't ask, but would probably think they were trying to set up to kick a field goal with a one point game. They caught us in a blitz and we didn't manage it well. Offensively, some good but still some unfortunate at the end of the first half I think we fumbled in the end zone on our second drive, we could have jumped on them early."

On USF

"Big win for those guys last week over Charlotte. So we travel down there they are a talented team. Very good team that has had some injuries that probably hasn't played as well as expected. Coming off of a great year last year."

Transfer Portal

"The transfer portal window doesn't open until December 9th, we'll have that week call before, we do not recruit the month of December as coaches. We're here every day. But you know, the main thing right now is this season and this game. So, you know, you start telling guys, hey, we're gonna we're gonna work to get you back, but we won't have business conversations until the end of the season and we'll put in front of those guys what we think we can do for them at that time, but right now it's you know, we're doing everything we can to make sure that they they feel they're getting better and whether it be a fourth year guy and a chance to come back for his fifth year. We want those guys back. And so we'll have those conversations, but I don't like have a lot of those conversations now because there's a task in hand. A

"We're doing some background work, but we'll not present those until as soon as that game's over and that next week, and that gives us eight to ten days to get with those young men and their families before the portal. I know for a fact there are teams right now, there are the third party contacting our players. Everyone going the country does that, and if they say they're not, they're lying, including us, because what I could do is like, hey, you're the high school coach. Hey, Jim went to so and so. If he if he's interested, tell him we would like to look at him. I mean, and, you know, and so you're not reaching out to the kid, it's, you know it's I mean, for someone to say there no one's tampering, everybody, everybody's tampered and looked and snooped it's just is what it is."
