Turkey Gravy

Description

A great addition to holiday meals, that you can whip up ahead of time!


Ingredients

  • Turkey neck
  • Sea salt & pepper
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 TSP of thyme
  • 1/2 TSP of rosemary
  • 5 cups of turkey broth
  • 1/4 cup of dry white wine
  • 1/2 TSP of worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup of cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prep: Add turkey neck on an oiled pan with seasonings.
  2. Prep: Put chopped vegetables around the neck. Add oil and herbs
  3. Prep: Put pan in oven at 400 degrees for 1 hour.
  4. Prep: Add all of the pan ingredients into a stock pot.
  5. Prep: Add 5 cups of water and simmer for an hour on the stovetop.
  6. Prep: Take out turkey neck.
  7. Prep: Use blender or immersion blender to combine ingredients.
  8. Prep: Set aside one cup of your freshly made broth.
  9. Thicken: Add corn starch to the cup of broth. Stir to create a slurry.
  10. Thicken: Bring the remaining broth to a boil, then add your slurry mixture to the pot by slowly whisking.
  11. Combine: Add worcestershire sauce and wine, and mix.
  12. Finish: Let the mixture simmer, and add salt and pepper to taste.
  13. Store: Store in deli containers or mason jars. Reheat before use!
