Fire crews responded to a structure fire Tuesday near SE 15th St. after reports of smoke inside a building.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and a storage shed engulfed in flames. Initially, the fire appeared contained to the shed, but further investigation revealed it had spread into the attic of two adjoining apartment units.

A commercial fire alarm was requested as crews worked quickly to contain the blaze.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread further, limiting the damage to the shed and two apartment units. Some smoke did enter nearby units, but they remain livable. The residents of the two affected apartments will be displaced.

No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
