An Oklahoma organization is hosting a Valentine's Day event to help couples have a night of fun, as well as raise money for charity.
The Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch spoke to Ashleigh Gibson and Nikki Snider from the Rural Gone Urban Foundation, who said Wanderlust will go to support women across the state.
Snider: We want everyone to come to Wanderlust on Feb. 15. It's going to be a good time for a great cause. We're going to have a steak dinner, we're going to have an auction, and we're going to have [tribute band] Straight Tequila Night playing 90s country.
Gibson: The Rural Gone Urban Foundation was founded by our friend Brooke Taylor, and she founded it on three pillars. Those pillars are small business grants for rural women, no-GPA scholarships for young women ... And also love bombs for cancer patients. Women who are going through cancer, they kind of need a little help at that time, and there's no strings attached to those.
Snider: This is the second event for the Rural Garden Urban Foundation. Over their two years of existence, they've been able to do 52 love bomb scholarships and grants.
Gibson: It is so important right now. I think her biggest thing is she focuses on rural women, and helping women in those areas that don't have we don't get as much focus on them because all the focus is here in the metro area. What she believes is it should be the status quo, not the exception, that we focus on giving these services to rural women.
Go to ruralgoneurban.org, there's a place to buy tickets. Right now, we've got a Valentine's Day code, you can get $50 off with the code VDAY. It's a great date night. All in one, you get your steak dinner and you get your concert music, you get some music, and you get to support a great cause.
