Rise and Run: avoiding running injuries

Race analyst and trainer Mark Bravo shares tips on avoiding injuries while training for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is fast approaching, and race analyst and trainer Mark Bravo stopped by to discuss managing injuries while training.

Bravo says it is important to not get carried away with following your training schedule.

"Don't make up a run in a way that could put you in harm's way," said Bravo. "Enjoy the journey."

While it can be tough to not overtrain, Bravo says don't stress yourself out and enjoy your training.

"Whether a veteran or a newcomer it's very important...don't get carried away, enjoy all the hubbub," he said.

Bravo says, if your body is in pain, listen to it. You may need to take a few days off from training. If the pain persists, it's important to seek advice from a medical professional, a running store specialist, or an experienced runner.
