News 9's Sassy Mama Caryn Ross, stopped by Spark to learn more about how their custard is made.

At Spark, a local custard shop with three locations in Oklahoma City, every scoop is made fresh daily using high-quality, natural ingredients. Unlike many frozen desserts that contain artificial additives, Spark’s custard is free of artificial flavors, emulsifiers, and preservatives.

The shop’s owners trained at Scoop School in St. Louis, a program dedicated to learning how to make custard. There, they learned the techniques that set custard apart from traditional ice cream.

Spark’s commitment to natural flavors led them to partner with Green Mountain Flavors, ensuring their recipes remain free of artificial ingredients.

In the shop’s kitchen, Michael, one of Spark’s custard experts, oversees production using a high-tech custard machine capable of producing four large containers in under an hour. The process emphasizes smoothness and consistency, with regular quality tests to ensure the perfect texture and flavor. Spark always offers chocolate and vanilla, along with a rotating flavor of the month.

This month’s special features a chocolate base mixed with brownie crumbs and brittle. A shake of the month complements the lineup, giving customers another way to enjoy seasonal flavors.

Spark also offers burgers and fries, making it a full dining destination. They have locations in Chisholm Creek, Nichols Hills, and Scissortail Park.
