OG&E customers will see an increase in their monthly bills starting March 1 as the company adjusts its fuel charge to reflect rising costs.
The average residential customer will pay an additional $12.65 per month under the new rate, OG&E said in a letter to customers. To ease the impact, the company has proposed a nine-month payback period instead of the standard six months, reducing the monthly increase by $5.
The fuel charge adjustment comes after three consecutive decreases in 2023 and 2024. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission, which reviews and approves fuel cost adjustments, last approved a decrease in November 2024.
“We understand any increase in bills can be difficult,” OG&E said in a statement. “That’s why we source and purchase fuel at the lowest cost possible to minimize the impact on customer bills and store lower-cost fuel to use when prices rise.”
OG&E said it does not profit from fuel costs, which are passed directly to customers. The company’s previous fuel adjustments resulted in lower monthly bills, including a $4.40 reduction in November 2024, a $25 decrease in May 2024, and a $20.97 drop in November 2023.
