News 9 Morning Meteorologist Jed Castles Announces New Role as Field Meteorologist and Stormtracker

Long-time morning meteorologist Jed Castles announced Wednesday his move to a new role, News 9 Field Meteorologist, joining the News 9 team of experienced Stormtrackers. Jed told viewers he will be providing on-the-ground coverage before, during and after severe weather starting Spring 2025.

Long-time morning meteorologist Jed Castles announced Wednesday his move to a new role, News 9 Field Meteorologist, joining the News 9 team of experienced Stormtrackers.

Jed told viewers he will be providing on-the-ground coverage before, during and after severe weather starting Spring 2025.

Jed has been a vital part of News 9’s morning team since 1996, delivering dependable forecasts and earning the trust of viewers across the market. Most recently, he expanded his responsibilities to include traffic reporting, skillfully connecting how weather impacts road conditions.

In his new role, Jed will give viewers his unique meteorological perspective during severe weather, ensuring Oklahoma’s communities stay safe and informed. He will anchor News 9 weekend morning forecasts, as well.

The News 9 Morning team celebrated Jed’s nearly 30-year career on Wednesday morning, expressing excitement for Jed’s new role and presenting him with a “Stormtracker Survival Kit” to prepare him for being a meteorologist in the field. News 9 Stormtrackers expressed gratitude and advice for Jed in his new adventure.

Jed discussed his new role and explained his goal to give Oklahomans a first-hand perspective within the storm, including plans to incorporate his experience, knowledge and drone capabilities under the direction of Chief Meteorologist David Payne.

News 9 anchors Robin Marsh, Lacie Lowry, Colby Thelen and meteorologist Lacey Swope congratulated Jed on his accomplishments and his new role.

The team also announced that meteorologist Megan Gold would be joining the News 9 morning team on March 10. Megan is an Edmond native with experience providing weather forecasts in Texas, Missouri and most recently at News On 6 in Tulsa.

News 9 made other weather team announcements, including:

  1. Meteorologist Justin Rudicel will anchor News 9’s Monday - Friday noon forecasts.
  2. Meteorologist Andrew Adams will anchor News 9’s Weekend Evening forecasts.
