Man charged in fatal 2021 shooting to appear in court

A man accused of shooting and killing a family member in 2021 is expected in court on Monday.

According to court documents, Mikelynn Thomas faces first-degree murder charges for the 2021 death of Anthony Bronner.

In October of 2021, police were called to an apartment at Southwest 59th Street and South May Avenue after neighbors reported several gunshots.

Police say they arrived on scene and found Bronner shot to death while sitting in his wheelchair.

Investigators were later able to tie Thomas to the crime scene using GPS locations from his phone, which was found in the apartment along with Thomas' ID.

Thomas' trial is set for 9 a.m.
