Norman Police are investigating the death of Joe Pal, a University of Oklahoma rugby player and National Guard member, who died Friday—five days after he was hospitalized with severe injuries.

How will Joe be remembered?
Joe was an incredible young man who always stood up for the underdog. He was hardworking, with a strong work ethic, and a friend to everyone. Fearless and deeply devoted to his family, he was always protective of those he loved.
Is there anything your family would like to ask of the public?
We are desperate for witnesses of the assault. We need someone to step up and be truthful.
What can people do to keep his memory alive?
Joe loved life and deeply cherished his friends and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes, always finding joy in making others laugh. His greatest wish was for everyone around him to be happy. We love hearing the many stories of how he touched people’s lives with his kindness, warmth, and laughter.
Was Joe from Oklahoma?
Joe always lived in Miami, Oklahoma. However, his mom taught in Joplin, Missouri, and that is where he went to school.
What were his plans for the future?
Joe had just applied for nursing school. He was hoping someday to become a PA. He loved helping other people.
Funeral Services
An open visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home, located at 5 B Street NW in Miami, OK 74354.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, 2424 N. Main Street, Miami, OK 74354.
