Losing everything to a home fire is not something anyone is ever looking to experience and as we enter fire season, it becomes more important to make sure your insurance policy reflects what you will need.
Zachary Moore, owner of the Zachary Moore Agency, provided tips when searching for insurance.
One thing to note: “It's not just a checkbox in terms of you get an insurance policy and everything you think is going to be covered a certain way,” said Moore.
“That is your lawsuit protection. if you were to cause a fire that burns down your neighbor's house, that's what their insurance company is going to come back and sue you for, and that's your coverage limit,” said Moore.
Moore uses the example of a fire or tornado forcing a person to relocate for a long period.
He says you want a plan that is going to help cover additional expenses that could go on for months or sometimes years.
What is an example of what could happen without the personal liability coverage?
Do not wait until a week before your closing date to start searching for insurance.
You want to start early to find the right insurance that fits your needs.
