UPDATE: Moore Police Department release statement on incident and suspect condition

19-year-old James Collier is dead after an altercation with the Moore Police Department.

Officers responded to a stabbing in progress around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Police said that two victims in a house were with Collier who was wielding a machete once they arrived on-scene.

Collier walked out of the house and did not drop the weapon after officers asked him to do so multiple times, according to police.

Moore Police Department Public Information Officer Clint Byley said officers then opened fire on the suspect, striking him at least once.

The report said that Collier was shot at least once in the upper body. Officers attempted to perform life-saving measures to keep Collier alive until paramedics could arrive. The two victims and Collier were then taken to the hospital, where Collier died. Both stabbing victims are expected to fully recover.

Police are still investigating.

No officers were harmed during the incident.

More information about this incident will be released once it has become available.
