Oklahomans headed to the polls on Tuesday for the Board of Education and Statutory Municipal General Election, one of the largest elections of the year.

Voters across the state decided on hundreds of school board or municipal offices and propositions.

Key races in the Oklahoma City metro:

The most high-profile contests in the Oklahoma City metro area include:

  1. Oklahoma City Council - Ward 7

Camal Pennington - Elected with 64.5% of the vote ✅

  1. Oklahoma County Commissioner District 1

Jason Lowe - Elected with 85.2% of the vote ✅

  1. Edmond Mayor

Mark Nash - Elected with 54.9% of the vote ✅

Major issues on the ballot:

  1. Blanchard School Bonds – A $42 million package funding a high school classroom addition, a new football/soccer fieldhouse, and new baseball/softball facilities. All three bonds failed ❌
  2. Noble County 3/4 Cent Sales Tax – A measure to provide funding for the jail and sheriff’s department.

Passed - 78.9% Yes ✅

  1. Noble County 1/4 Cent Sales Tax – A proposal to allocate funds to local fire departments.

Passed - 88.1% Yes ✅

  1. Pottawatomie County Half-Cent Sales Tax – A tax initiative aimed at supporting schools across the county.

Passed - 71.3% Yes ✅

  1. Stillwater Animal Welfare Facility Bond – An $8.75 million bond to construct a new animal welfare facility.

Passed - 74.2% Yes ✅

Special elections and runoffs:

Three special primary elections and one runoff were decided, mainly affecting Tulsa-area legislative seats.

  1. House District 71 Democrat Primary

Amanda Clinton ✅ - Advanced with 51.3% of the vote. Clinton awaits the winner of a May Republican runoff which will decide her opponent in the June general election.

  1. House District 71 Republican Primary

Beverly Atteberry (49%) and Tania Garza (29%) ✅ - Both advanced to a May 13 runoff election. The winning candidate will face Democrat Amanda Clinton in the June general election.

  1. House District 74 Republican Primary

Sheila Vancuren (28%) and Kevin Norwood (21%) ✅ - Both advanced to a May 13 runoff election. The winner of the runoff will face Democrat Amy Hossain in the June general election.

  1. Senate District 8 Republican Runoff

Bryan Logan ✅ - Advanced with 55.6% of the vote to face Democrat Nathan Brewer and Independent Steve Sanford in a general election on May 13.
