Oklahoma City residents will be able to dispose of select waste items at a special collection event on Saturday at the OKC Fairgrounds.
City leaders plan to open an area east of the Jim Norick Arena between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for accepting unwanted computers, tires, ammunition and prescription medications.
The City of Oklahoma City says residents coming to dispose of any waste should enter through Gate 5 on Gordon Cooper Boulevard from May Avenue.
The event is open to Oklahoma City residents only, and participants must present a current City of Oklahoma City water bill to verify residency.
However, not all waste will be accepted. Waste that cannot be disposed of at Saturday's event includes syringes, liquids, inhalers, tire rims, televisions, wheels or any business waste.
Outside of Saturday's event, the city says residents can take advantage of year-round disposal of household hazardous materials by visiting the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 1621 South Portland Avenue.
Accepted items at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center include gasoline, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, weed killers, pool chemicals and paint-related products.
The center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
