Our Blood Institute offering free giveaways for donors

Our Blood Institute is sending blood donors home with free items to celebrate Earth Day and Easter, the organization says.

Our Blood Institute says that donors who come into any local OBI donor center on either April 17 or April 18 will go home with a free tree seedling to plant at home, courtesy of the Oklahoma Forestry Service.

On April 19 and April 21, donors can receive a $15 grocery coupon, courtesy of Butterball. All donors walk away with a "Saddle Up and Donate" cowboy-themed T-shirt.

Anyone who is healthy and 16 years old or older can give blood. Donation typically takes only about an hour, and one donation saves up to three lives.

Appointments to donate can be made online at obi.org or by calling 877-340-8777. Walk-ins are also welcome.
