A man accused of putting malware on a metro hospital's computers has been arrested, according to police.

The Oklahoma City Police Department says Jeffrey Bowie was seen by an employee at SSM St. Anthony using a computer designated for employees only.

St. Anthony conducted a forensic review of the computer and found malware had been installed.

According to OCPD, a probable cause affidavit says the technology downloaded onto the computer was designed to take a screenshot every 20 minutes before transmitting those images.

Bowie is facing two counts of violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.

SSM Health released a statement that reads:

"On August 6, 2024, an unauthorized individual was identified accessing a hospital computer in an alleged attempt to install malware. The protection of data and the integrity of our systems are top priorities. Due to precautions in place, the issue was addressed immediately, and no patient information was accessed. We worked closely with law enforcement during the investigation."
