Cleveland County is hosting a drive-thru drug take back event this weekend.

On Saturday, you can bring unused or expired medication to four drop-off locations across the county.

You can drop off any unused medication at the Cleveland County Health Department's Moore or Norman location, the Absentee Shawnee Tribe Little Axe Health Center or the Norman Veterans Home.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Syringes will only be accepted in a secure container.

The event, hosted by the Cleveland County Health Improvement Plan Substance Abuse Community Coalition, is part of a national effort to prevent poisonings and damage to the environment.

According to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the initiative has kept nearly 300,000 pounds of unused and expired medication out of landfills and waterways.
