One dead after Lawton floods according to officials

The Lawton Police Traffic unit is currently working a death investigation after one body was recovered Saturday evening according to the Lawton Police Department.

Authorities say the investigation began near 2nd and F. after emergency responders reported witnessing a car drive into standing water earlier today.

The Lawton Police Department Dive Team arrived on scene to assist in the recovery of the victim after first responders were unable to safely get to the submerged vehicle.

With the roads still flooded in areas of Lawton, police urges Oklahomans to stay off the roadway if possible.
