Despite unexpected schedule changes, Austin McNair crossed the finish line first on Sunday morning to win the men's 5K race at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, the 5K was delayed due to severe weather and moved to Sunday, just 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Quarter marathon. McNair, who had originally planned to run both races, made the decision to commit to the 5K.

"I just decided to gut it out, and give it what we got, and came away with a win," McNair said.
McNair emphasized that running in the Oklahoma City Marathon holds a deep meaning beyond competition. McNair says that it is about honoring the lives of everyone who was lost during the bombing.
"People don't really associate Oklahoma with a running state or running community, but trying to grow that and show everyone that we do have runners and do have a community," McNair said.
