Tulsa Police say Parker Brown is the man who shot a jogger Sunday afternoon, then opened fire on officers and firefighters when they were trying to help the victim.

Police say Brown waited for officers to show up, started shooting at them, then drove off, but started shooting again when he ended up at a dead-end street..

Officers returned fire and killed him.

NEIGHBORS CONCERNED

Rachel Bausili and Betty Jo Green live right by there and say the whole thing was terrible.

"Very vulnerable in a very guttural way,” said Bausili. “I could have easily been outside with my kids when all this happened."

They say this is a quiet area where kids play outside all the time, and people walk and jog.

"My kids go to that park on their bikes all the time,” said Bausili. “We're out front in our driveway playing, all the time."

Green says she’s lived in this house for nearly 60 years, and this is the most unnerving thing that has happened here.

"It was just a shock what happened yesterday,” said Green. “And you think, it can't happen here, but, it sure can."

Green says her heart breaks for all the people who had to see what happened in front of their homes.

"Sad. For my neighborhood,” said Green. “And my neighbors that were so traumatized. And my family. Little kids don't need to go through what they had to go through yesterday."

Bausili says this won’t change the way she and her kids live their lives, but they will be more aware that anything can happen at any time.

"I don't want to live in fear,” said Bausili. “I want to live wisely, but I don't want to live in fear. I want to pass that on to my kids. I don't think so, because it was such a freak and bizarre thing."

BROWN’S HISTORY

Court records show Brown was charged with felony DUI in Payne County last month.

WHAT’S NEXT

Police say the jogger is expected to survive and no officers were injured.

The officers who fired shots are on administrative leave during the internal and criminal investigations, as is the standard.
