TULSA, OK --A popular child's doll is being pulled off of shelves all across Green Country. Many are convinced Fisher Price's Cuddle and Coo Doll is saying something controversial when she speaks.
The doll looks like your typical child's toy, but it doesn't sound like one and that's causing quite a stir nationwide.
When you listen closely to the doll, not only does she say, "goo goo, gaga, and mama." But, the Fisher Price Cuddle and Coo Doll also says what sounds like, "Islam is the light."
Understandably, that has some people upset. And, after receiving complaints, some big chains have yanked the dolls from their local stores.
Whether or not little Cuddle and Coo is saying Islam is the light, it's already being pulled from store shelves across the city, including all the Targets, and some of the Wal-Marts. But, is it really a carefully placed Islamic message, or simply gibberish that resembles one?
Target shoppers The News On 6 spoke with had trouble understanding the doll at first, but after they were told what she is allegedly saying, they immediately changed their tune.
"I can see it now after you told me. I can understand how it would be a controversy if it didn't have something on it about the other faiths as well," said Louis Hull of Tulsa.
"Yeah, that's what it sounds like. It sounds like that now that you've said it. Islam is the light. Huh?" said Tulsan Kathryn Christopher.
Intentional or not, given the amount of controversy the Cuddle and Coo Doll is causing, as well the response from big-time retailers, she may end up being silenced.
The News On 6 was unable to get in touch with Fisher Price, who makes the dolls, but, according to some reports, the company is offering a full refund to anyone who wants one.
