OK Governor Orders Flags Lowered In Honor Of ODOT Worker

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Governor Mary Fallin has ordered flags at all Oklahoma Department of Transportation's field offices across the state to be lowered in memory of an ODOT inspector killed on Monday.

Terry Clubb was working Monday on Interstate 35 near Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City when the wind blew over an asphalt truck and trapped him beneath it. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol shut down traffic for hours while emergency crews worked to free him.

Clubb was extricated and rushed to a metro hospital.  He died Tuesday night.

Clubb was 53-years-old and had worked for ODOT for the past 13 years. At the time of the accident, he was inspecting construction activities on the new I-40 Crosstown.

ODOT released this statement on Wednesday:

"The family is distraught over Terry's death and asks for continued prayers, which have helped sustain them during this difficult time. 

The loss of such a hard-working, dedicated ODOT employee is felt by each of his 2,400 coworkers statewide, particularly those at the Oklahoma City construction residency where he worked.

The family and ODOT deeply appreciate the kind words and support of many Oklahomans and ask for continued support for the family and those who worked directly with them."

At an earlier ODOT 100th anniversary ceremony, Gov. Mary Fallin ordered the flags lowered for the next two days in Terry Clubb's memory.
