Owasso Police said circumstances into the death of a 10-month-old baby are suspicious, but are waiting for a report from the medical examiner before they can go any further with an investigation.

Tuesday night, the Owasso community continued to show their support at Rayola Park, as friends, family and many more lit candles and released 750 balloons in honor of baby Emmy.

The 10-month-old girl was found unresponsive Saturday morning when an ambulance was called. She was transferred to a Tulsa hospital where she died Sunday.

"Once the full doctor’s exam began they did discover an unexplained brain injury, a brain bleed," said Deputy Chief Jason Woodruff, Owasso Police.

Police said that's when they were called in to investigate.

"The child was actually in the care of the child's mother's boyfriend. The mother was gone to work when this child was discovered with this injury," Woodruff said.

Right now, police say the family is cooperating and that investigators are just waiting for autopsy results.

"A lot of it is going to depend on the medical examiner's report when it comes back. An injury in and of itself doesn't prove that this child was abused," said Woodruff.

In the meantime, the community is coming together for the family and their tragic loss.

Dozens of people showed up to the balloon release Tuesday night and a Go Fund Me page has been set up for medical expenses.
