Developer Has Plans For $150M Project For Blue Dome District

Tulsa's Blue Dome District is set to be transformed with a $150 million project. Plans include a hotel, retail and office space, apartments and a parking garage.

Businesses surround the full city block in Tulsa's Blue Dome District - between 1st and 2nd and Elgin and Greenwood. Now, new construction can be seen from almost every angle.

Developer Casey Stowe said, "This is the last big infill piece that everybody has been waiting on something to happen."

That something is Santa Fe Square.

While just a concept image now, the $150 million project will include apartments, a full-service hotel and retail and office space.

Stowe said that is one of the elements they found in highest demand; Tulsa-based companies are starting to realize the competitive edge they get by being downtown.

"This is where young and old talented workers want to be. This is where a lot of stuff is going on," Stowe said.

As for the historic Santa Fe Depot, that isn't going anywhere. It will most likely be joined with the new hotel, housing a restaurant and lobby space.

Stowe said the more than 200 apartments will mostly be one bedroom, but there will be two and three bedroom options.

The parking garage is another big piece to the puzzle, with plans for even more spaces than available in the current lot.

There are still a lot of moving parts, but projects of this magnitude take time and dedicated partnerships.

“Professionals in their respective areas, names you would recognize and respect," Stowe said. "We are excited for the opportunity to do this and to bring something like this to Tulsa.”

They hope to break ground in 2016. As for completion, that is still up in the air.
