A Tulsa Police officer who was stabbed in the face during an attempted arrest is recovering after undergoing surgery, the department shared.

The Tulsa Police Department said the officer, who has not yet been identified, was responding to a store near 41st Street and Garnett Road Wednesday evening regarding a man who was allegedly exposing himself and urinating behind a building.

That suspect, Scorpio Flynn, has a concealed knife in his waistband and TPD says he stabbed the officer in the face. The knife broke off and embedded into the officer's cheek, TPD says. He still pursued Flynn and attempted to taser him twice before other officers assisted and helped arrest Flynn.

TPD said Flynn told officers he intentionally stabbed the officer who was attempting to arrest him.

The injured officer is expected to recover from his injuries. Flynn was arrested and booked on charges of attempted first-degree murder and resisting arrest.
