The Oklahoma Highway Patrol shut down Interstate 244 Wednesday morning because of multiple wrecks.
The OHP reports freezing drizzle made the highway very slick.
Multiple crashes happened on 244 at about 10 a.m. where it crosses over Admiral between Sheridan and Yale.
Two EMSA ambulances were involved in wrecks on the highway. EMSA said paramedics in ambulance 110 had loaded a patient into the unit when a vehicle hit the ambulance at about 10:15. No one was hurt in that crash.
Ambulance 125 was headed to that scene when the crew came upon a different crash. At about 10:25 that ambulance was hit by a vehicle. The paramedics were outside assessing possible patients and no one was hurt.
A third ambulance was on the way to the scene when its crew encountered yet another wreck on I-244. The crew took two patients from that crash to the hospital with minor injuries.
In all, EMSA says it transported five patients from the wrecks on I-244.
Tulsa Police activated Operation Slick Streets, which means they only responded to injury wrecks.
The OHP reports bridges were especially hazardous due to the drizzle.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 2 p.m.
