A Choctaw man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and causing a hospital lockdown.
St. Anthony Hospital near Northwest 10th Street and North Walker Avenue was under lockdown the night of Monday, August 12, because of a threat, police said.
Joseph Davidson, 35, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his 31-year-old girlfriend in the 15000 block of Northeast 36th Street in Choctaw.
Officers initially responded to a disturbance call for a man with a gun at the address, but officers quickly learned much more was going on.
“There was a female that had gone to her neighbor’s house for help and reports of she was very bloody,” said Chief Kelly Marshall of the Choctaw Police Department. “We believe she had actually escaped out of a window.”
It’s what Davidson told his girlfriend that prompted the St. Anthony lockdown.
“Prior to him leaving, he had told the victim that had she sought help from police or medical that he would go to where she was and try to kill her and anybody trying to help her,” said Marshall.
The lockdown was lifted following Davidson's arrest at his mother's home in Oklahoma City.
After already being charged with breaking in entering in 2017, neighbor’s hope this incident will be Davidson’s last.
“My mother is 77 years old and is scared,” said neighbor Kevin Bryant. “She stayed the night at my house last night, scared to stay at home because of this craziness.”
Davidson was booked in Oklahoma County Jail on two misdemeanor charges of domestic abuse, kidnapping and threatening to perform an act of violence.
