Wade Gourley has been named as the new Oklahoma City police chief, according to the Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police.
Oklahoma City Manager Craig Freeman is set to make the official announcement during a news conference Monday.
Gourley will be the city’s 50th police chief. He is replacing former Chief Bill Citty, who retired in May after 15 years as chief and 41 years of service.
The OKC FOP released a statement saying:
“We’re excited to welcome Wade Gourley as the new Chief of the Oklahoma City Police Department. We look forward to working with Chief Gourley to improve morale and the working conditions of the men and women that comprise the Oklahoma City Police Department. His genuine passion for our officers and commitment to fair treatment provide a stable foundation as we move into our next chapter. The OKC FOP has a great working relationship with Chief Gourley and we congratulate him on this well-deserved new role.”
The news conference is set to begin at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 8 at the Oklahoma City Police Department headquarters.
