An investigation is underway into possible misappropriation of ministry funds at the OSU campus ministry, the Wesley Foundation.
According to the United Methodist Church Oklahoma Conference, this all came to the attention of the ministry’s foundation board members on December 9.
Employees of the ministry and board members of the foundation referred all questions to The United Methodist Church's Oklahoma Conference who issued a statement that says:
“The Board of Directors of the United Methodist Church Wesley Foundation campus ministry in Stillwater, OK., learned on Dec. 9th that there is reason to investigate a possibility of misappropriation of ministry funds. We fully support their decision as a Board to explore the matter and to safeguard the financial integrity of the ministry. The Wesley Foundation will continue to provide ministry to students during this time of investigation. We will be praying for all involved in the ministry. Because of the nature of the matter and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment until the investigation is completed.”
News 9 contacted the ministry Executive Director Rev. Michael Bartley who only told us “No Comment”.
A United Methodist Church spokesperson says no one has been laid off as a result of the possible misappropriation, and this won't affect construction of the ministry’s new building.
