Judge George Butner sentenced Rex and Rebecca Clark to life in prison on four counts of child abuse, and life without parole on one count of first-degree murder.

The couple stood trial for abusing their nephews, Colton and Homer Clark. The jury also found them guilty for the murder of Colton Clark, the 9-year-old younger brother.

In April 2006, Colton Clark disappeared and has never been found. The case went cold, but re-opened in September 2015. Rex and Rebecca Clark were charged and the jury found them guilty in October 2017.

They each received four concurrent life sentences for child abuse, and one consecutive life without parole sentence for murder. The two walked out of the courtroom in cuffs after the sentencing was read.

"I don't figure to spend our lives in prison. We're innocent. Once we get honestly tried, we'll be free," Rex told the media. He got rough and was yelling in the hallway of the courthouse.

Homer Clark has since taken a new identity. His name is now T.J. Sloan. He said, "We got the results we wanted and there was justice served for my brother." During the trial, Sloan testified about what happened in 2006. He remembers seeing his little brother bloody and beaten.

In tears, Sloan said, "I'm sorry this ever happened, that we got failed by so many people. The kid never got to live his life."

Documents show that both brothers endured a lot of abuse. The Clark's allegedly used a cattle prod to their genitals, and hit them with bamboo stalk, a wooden cane and a coat hanger.

After the sentencing was read, Rex Clark made a threat to Sloan.

"Rex said that he would live to piss on my grave. We'll see how that ends," said Sloan. This young man is not allowing the Clark's to instill fear in him any longer.

Sloan talks about Rex and said, "He's just a big old angry cowardly man. That's all he has ever been, and ain't nobody scared of him."

The sentencing brought a sense of closure for Sloan. He said he is now a successful young man and is moving forward in his life. But still, he misses his brother, Colton Clark, every day. "I love him and I miss him more than anything."

The Clark's have ten days to appeal the judgement. They've already indicated to the judge that they wish to appeal.
