A Midwest City man is accused of crushing his 3-month-old daughter's skull.

Police said Brennan Conyer became so frustrated about his baby daughter's crying in his Midwest City home that he lashed out and hit the 3-month-old, crushing her skull.

According to court records, the 25-year-old Conyer took his daughter, Maia, to the hospital, claiming he tripped and banged her head against a TV stand on October 25.

He later admitted he was holding her; he was angry that she was crying; and in his words “Karate Chopped Maia on the top of the head … Really hard,” according to court documents.

"Unfortunately, we have a child that's injured with some significant injuries, and a parent that's facing some criminal charges,” said Midwest City Maj. Robert Cornelison. “This could have been avoidable."

For example, police say, when you’re caring for a baby and feel like you’re losing your temper, call a friend and talk; call police.

They won’t arrest you but they could get you help.

Or simply put the baby down for a few minutes till you cool off.

"Because crying's not going to hurt the baby and it's not going to hurt you,” Cornelison said. “Come back to the child when you've calmed down and you've had a chance to gather your thoughts a little bit."
