A new plan to collect more state tax money, means your chances of being audited are going up. The Oklahoma Tax Commission is hiring more auditors.
“If these auditors can find people that are under reporting, it can help the state’s budget crisis,” said Tax Commission Communication Director Paula Ross.
Ross said if you file your taxes correctly, you should be fine. But there appears to be a lot of people and businesses who don’t.
“We did determine that in sales and uses and income should bring in 50 million additional dollars.”
The 114 total auditors the Tax Commission will have is still below the 132 it did 10 years ago. But the extra help will cut tax crime.
