A trial is set for the embattled Love County sheriff.
Some have tried to oust Sheriff Joe Russell for years.
According to the docket, the issue is set to go before a judge and jury on Monday
A multi-county grand jury recently recommended Russell be removed from office.
He is accused of "corruption" and "neglect of duty."
Grand jurors also decided Russell should have to answer to allegations of criminal activity.
In July, state prosecutors charged the sheriff with harboring a fugitive and maintaining a house where drugs were kept.
Among the allegations in the case, the sheriff's son, George Russell, was accused of selling meth out of the sheriff's home.
Investigators think the sheriff took steps to protect him from the law.
Even with the public scrutiny surrounding the case, Joe Russell did not step down as sheriff.
He instead volunteered for suspension with pay.
Joe Russell remains on leave pending the outcome of his trial.
The trial, though, could be pushed back.
His attorneys are reportedly planning to file a motion for a continuance.
