Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, a 12-year-old boy was in his living room at this home on Karen Drive in Edmond when police said Matthew Brumley showed up and forced his way through a door.

“Is he still inside the residence?” A dispatcher asked the boy over the phone.

“I think so. But can you please come quick? It’s really scary,” he replied.

While the boy and his grandmother ran to another room and locked the door, the suspect apparently hid too and also put in a call to 911.

The recording is tough to understand, but police said Brumley told dispatchers someone was chasing him throughout the house, so he got under a bed.

“I heard a big glass crack,” the boy told the dispatcher.

Brumley had decided to bail and jumped through a bedroom window, police said.

“Are you sending people? Because I don’t know if he has like a weapon or something,” the boy said.

“They’re on the way. They’ve got lots of help on the way, but I need you to not hang up the phone, OK?” The dispatcher replied.

Police said they found the suspect a few houses down, giving them the bird and bleeding profusely. He had five serious cuts from the glass on his leg and Achilles tendon area, so an officer put on a tourniquet.

And while he went to the hospital, police could tell the boy he was safe.

“He did everything that he needed to do and so that’s always so helpful in that situation,” said Jennifer Wagnon with Edmond Police.

Doctors said Brumley’s kidney was failing and if weren't for that tourniquet, his wounds could’ve been fatal.

Police said the suspect will face charges of public intoxication and entering a building without intent to commit a crime.

Edmond Police had just arrested Brumley two days before.

Brumley had apparently broken into a business and thought someone was chasing him. He told officers that was the result of him "snorting some powder."
