Senior Peyton Little and junior Gabbi Ortiz poured in a team-high 16 points apiece to lead Oklahoma women’s basketball to an 81-61 victory over Combinado Valeciano on Monday.
Ortiz hit 5-of-11 field goals, including three 3-pointers, while nearly collecting a double-double with nine rebounds. The junior guard also dished four assists in the victory. Little finished 7-for-9 from the floor and drilled a pair of triples for the Sooners, while adding five boards.
Junior center Vionise Pierre-Louis also finished in double figures with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting along with nine rebounds, three blocks and two stealss. Senior guard T’ona Edwards dished a team-high five assists for the second straight game.
Oklahoma used a strong fourth quarter to seal the victory. The Sooners scored 26 points in the frame and closed the contest with a 17-6 run to put the game away.
For the second straight game, OU’s bench sparked the offense by finishing with 44 points. The Sooners also scored 34 in the paint and posted a 47-35 advantage in rebounding.
OU shot .479 (34-for-71) from the floor, .368 (7-of-19) and .750 (6-of-8) from the free throw line in the game.
Combinado Valenciano’s Gimeno Vega led all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting.
The Sooners, who are now 2-0 against Spanish competition, wrap up their three-game exhibition tour on Wednesday as they face the Barcelona Region All-Stars in Barcelona, Spain. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. local time (1 p.m. CT).
