This is a big sports weekend and fans need to expect extra security at the Big 12 football games in Oklahoma.
Both OU and OSU play at home on Saturday and both are focusing on stadium entrance procedures one week after the Paris terror attacks.
The University of Oklahoma said it wants to remind fans to be aware of their surroundings and to allow for some extra time to get through the stadium gates.
“I think it's a great idea, I really do, better safe than sorry in the world these days,” said Brian Trent, an OU Law student.
OU was the first to announce an emphasis on stadium entrance procedures. University officials said they have never used this type of language before, but no one should be alarmed. Fans should just allow some extra time for security to check purses, coats and blankets for the cold weather.
"Safety is always our highest priority for the fans and visitors to campus for a football game. Screenings at the gates will take longer because of the cold weather and the extra layers of clothing people will be wearing. Fans should come early and be aware of the longer wait time at the gate entrances," said Corbin Wallace, Press Secretary for OU.

With the Paris attacks just last weekend, students going to the game said added security is the way to go.
“We are definitely hurting for Paris right now and just, the events that have occurred over the world, but right now I think we are just focused on something for people to get their minds off things,” said OU Senior Addie Hubbard.
OU would not comment on whether the university hired extra security personnel.
In Stillwater, OSU has now released the same advisory for fans heading to the home matchup against Baylor.
Oklahoma State University confirmed it has hired additional security personnel for the game. Fans should allow for at least 15 extra minutes to get through security so their coats and blankets can be checked.
Both universities said they want fans to enjoy the games and be safe.
Many fans told News 9 they will not let fear keep them from going.
“That's what terrorists want, they want us to be scared and in fear, so we can't do what they want,” Trent explained.
Fans are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the security at either stadium. For OSU fans, suspicious activity can also be reported through the Orange Shield app.
