Marko Gujancic had 13 points, including two 3-pointers in overtime, as George Mason moved into the Charleston Classic championship with a 71-68 victory over Oklahoma State on Friday.
The Patriots (2-2) held a 56-51 lead in the final minute before the Cowboys (3-1) forced overtime on Joe Burton's 3-pointer with 16 seconds to go. But Gujancic got George Mason started with his long-range shot. The Patriots made 7-of-8 shots in the extra period to defeat their second Power Five opponent in as many days after upending Mississippi to open the tournament Thursday.
Oklahoma State had a last possession to tie, but the ball was tipped away before they could get a shot off.
Jaire Grayer had a career-high 23 points and Shevon Thompson had his second straight double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds.
Jeff Newberry led Oklahoma State with a season-high 20 points.
Next up, the Cowboys will play the loser of Long Beach State and No. 6 Virginia in the thrid-place game of the Charleston Classic on Sunday at 6 p.m. Central. The game will be televised on ESPNU and Cowboy Radio Network will have the call.
