News 9 has confirmed Oklahoma City will have a professional soccer team to compete in the North American Soccer League (NASL) – just one tier below Major League Soccer – beginning in 2016. A press conference is scheduled at 3 p.m. Tuesday to announce Oklahoma City's newest pro sports franchise.

News9.com plans to live-stream the conference.

Games will be played at the sparkling new stadium at Yukon High School. Former Blazer executive Brad Lund heads up the group that is bringing a NASL soccer to the city.

The soccer team’s name Rayo OKC will be unveiled, complete with ownership from La Liga, the world’s top soccer league.  This enterprise is unrelated to current OKC professional soccer team – the Energy FC — which competes in the third tier USL.

The NASL plays a Spring season and Fall seasons which leads into playoffs.
