Part of the Myriad Gardens will be covered in ice by the end of this week as the holiday skating season begins Friday.
The Devon Ice Rink opens to the public 3 p.m. Friday and will remain open until Jan. 31. This is the fifth year the rink has been in the Gardens and is a part of the Downtown OKC Inc.'s Downtown in December celebration.
Open seven days a week, the Devon Ice Rink will host daily public skating, private parties and special events all winter long.
“We are so pleased and excited to embark on our fifth skating season at the Gardens,” said Maureen Heffernan, executive director of the Myriad Gardens Foundation. “It’s a great activity for families, and it’s something people can enjoy all winter, and we appreciate Devon Energy for making it possible. It’s a fun way for kids with cabin fever to let off a little steam. It’s also fun for out-of-town guests and, of course, we can’t think of a lovelier location!”
Friday nights are Rock n' Skate Night with a live DJ from 6 to 9 p.m.
Every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is Carton Skate where kids can skate with their favorite cartoon character.
