The Edmond Police Department is warning the public about a police impersonator in our area.
According to police, a victim said she was pulled over during a traffic stop late September 24, while traveling northbound on Broadway between Coffee Creek and Sorghum Mill.
The victim said a man approached her vehicle asking for her driver’s license and insurance and went back to his vehicle. When he returned, he asked the victim to get out of her vehicle. He then searched her glovebox, floorboards, behind seats, and the trunk.
The victim said he didn’t say anything inappropriate and released her when he was done with his search.
Police say the victim’s name and tag were not run through the proper law enforcement systems the entire day of the September 24, which is standard procedure.
The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5’9” – 6’1” with short black hair, light but muscular build. He was wearing a tan button-up shirt with embroidered badge that says “police”, and dark jeans. He had a gun and knife. The victim says she didn’t see a badge next to the gun on the belt.
The suspect was driving a white vehicle with a LED light bar inside full width of the windshield.
Edmond police has notified surrounding agencies and security companies. Anyone who sees the suspect is asked call 911 immediately.
