Cushing Police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating after a fatal officer-involved shooting Sunday morning.

Around 3:00 a.m., Cushing Police Officers were called to a home in the 500 block of South Little in response to an unwanted person at the property.

Upon arrival, officers located the male suspect. Police say during the course of conversation, the suspect produced a handgun and pointed it at two bystanders at the scene.

Officers gave multiple commands for the suspect to drop his weapon, but he refused and continued to threaten the individuals.

That’s when police say an officer fired one shot at the suspect.

Paramedics from the Cushing Fire Department responded and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer involved has been placed on paid routine leave pending the outcome of the investigation by OSBI. Due to the ongoing investigation the suspect and officers names are not being released at this time.
