I came across an intriguing article Monday titled the Dumbest College Courses for 2015.
I took some electives that might seem like a waste of money to some: bowling, yeah; golf, good for building business relationships. But the Daily Caller found some doozies. Here are a few:
Cornell University offers a course on tree climbing, and it proudly boasts you'll even "learn to climb from one tree to another without touching the ground." And that'll come in handy if you want to do business with squirrels.
Georgia State is offering a course, "Kanye Versus Everybody," and the description says Kanye West (the rapper) expresses an intellectual stance and an extreme sense of agency that arguably exemplify the critical perspective of our latest generation of public thinkers. Kanye's way over my head.
Skidmore College offers the "Sociology Miley Cyrus." No really. And you'll be analyzing aspects of intersectional identities and media representation, including "The Rise of the Disney Princess." That'll come in handy during a job interview.
Other schools offer courses on "The American Vacation," and my favorite,"Wasting Time on the Internet" which poses the question: could our random surfing and social media updates be used to create compelling works of literature?
The answer is no. Trust me, save your tuition money.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
