A major construction project begins on Monday at Broadway and 33rd in Edmond.
If you've ever driven through Broadway and 33rd you know that this is the busiest intersection in Edmond. You're going to need more patience as you make your way through this because construction starts Monday morning, and this project is expected to take about a year to complete.
Edmond city officials said more than 50,000 cars pass through the intersection every day. ODOT and the city of Edmond are spending $5 million to add more lanes, specifically left turn lanes to keep that traffic moving.
Road crews will also resurface the road and add more signals. Part of the deal ODOT and the city required for the contractor was to keep at least two lanes open on Broadway which runs north and south. But 33rd could be, at times, down to just one lane.
So how can you make your way around this? If you're heading north or south, consider Kelly, Boulevard, or even Santa Fe. Going east or west, use Memorial Road or 15th St.
