With the President's visit, it will most likely affect your travel downtown Thursday morning. Several roads are blocked off right now.
The President is waking up Thursday morning at the Sheraton Hotel, arriving here through the help of the Presidential motorcade after landing at Tinker Air Force Base. And whenever there's a motorcade, traffic and parking no matter what time of day can be affected.
The Oklahoma City Police is discouraging anyone who doesn't have to be in downtown from coming Thursday morning.
For security reasons the Police Department didn't release any information as to which streets would close or where you won't be able to park. But we drove around and saw orange cones and no parking zones all over downtown Oklahoma City, limiting street parking mainly along Sheridan Road and Reno, some sections of Classen Boulevard as well.
Anyone who attended last night's "Sonic Summer Movie Nights" at Myriad Gardens was encouraged to park south of the gardens and far west to avoid the northeast section that's blocked off for the President.
Just to give you an idea of how far some of the parking issues extended, the YMCA which is north of us along N.W. 4th street and Broadway closed at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. It reopened Thursday morning 6 a.m.
Anyone who works in downtown is encouraged to leave earlier than usual so you can make your way around these street closures.
